Federer primed to scoop £100,000 for Oxfam
Roger Federer put his somewhat sketchy year behind him by thumping Rafael Nadal in the final of the World Tour Finals in the O2 Arena and William Hill are offering 2/1 that he continues his renaissance by winning the Australian Open.
He is priced at 66/1 to win all four majors next year.
Should he win Wimbledon it will result in a £100,000 payout by Hills to Oxfam.
Nick Newlife, 59, an Oxfordshire client of William Hill died before the bet he had placed on the Swiss to win seven Wimbledons before 2020 had come to fruition, having willed the proceeds of the wager to the charity which now stands to benefit if he can win again in or before 2019. Federer is currently the 3/1 to win Wimbledon 2011.
"Roger had a disappointing season by his own very high standards, but victory at the O2 saw a return to his best and it could be a successful season for both Roger and Oxfam," said Hill's spokesman Joe Crilly.
