Federer win to deliver £100,000 to Oxfam
The battle for the Wimbledon Mens Singles title is now down to the final four and although there has been a shock or two along the way there is a familiar scent to one of the semi finals as Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer face each other for a place in the Final. Djokovic is the stand out favourite to be crowned champion at 1.67 and is 1.40 to win his semi final.
Federer is 4.50 to be crowned champion and 3.00 to beat Djokovic on Friday. The suave Swiss is hunting for his seventh Wimbledon title and should he deliver victory, William Hill will pay out £100,000 to a now deceased customer. Nick Newlife placed a bet in 2003 of £1,520 at 67.00 that Federer would win seven Wimbledon titles, he has since died and left his bet to the charity 'Oxfam' who will be hoping to celebrate on Sunday night.
The winner of the Djokovic vs Federer match will play Andy Murray or Jo Wilfried Tsonga. Murray is the favourite to get to the Final at 1.44 as the Brit will have home advantage and is a 5.50 shot to win a first Grand Slam. Tsonga, is 2.75 to beat Murray and the 11.00 outsider to win the tournament.
"The whole of the UK are finally getting behind Andy Murray to win a Wimbledon title but on the continent our customers are backing Djokovic to break British hearts again," said Hill's spokesman Rupert Adams.
