Golden Oldies Find Form Before France
Roger Federer and Serena Williams won on the blue clay of Madrid as two sleeping giants awoke from their slumbers with a bang, just weeks before the French Open begins. Federer is 8/1 to win at Roland Garros, while Williams is 3/1 second favourite to win the women's event with William Hill.
"Federer and Serena have laid down the gauntlet to their younger opponents and shown that there is still life in the old dogs yet," said Hill's spokesman Joe Crilly.
The Madrid Masters courted controversy with their blue courts and a number of players have claimed they will stay away if they do not revert to red. Hills are offering 4/11 that the courts in Madrid are red next year and 2/1 that they are blue.
Hills make Federer 4/1 to end the season as world number one although Djokiovic is the 4/6 favourite.
