Nalbandian ready to reign over Spain
David Nalbandian turned down a huge payday in favour of a rest and now looks set to lead Argentina to a memorable Davis Cup victory against Spain.
Nalbandian has geared the tail end of his season towards getting in shape for the Davis Cup final, so, when he was offered a place in last week's Masters Cup he turned it down and missed out on massive $100,000.
Now, as he joins forces with Juan Martin del Potro, the former Wimbledon finalist looks a dead cert to bring Argentina their first ever Davis Cup success.
Spain go into the tie still reeling from the news that world number one Rafael Nadal is unable to play due to tendonitis in his right knee and, despite having a great strength in depth, they look weak compared to the Argentinians.
David Ferrer is their star man and will be backed up by Feliciano Lopez when the first round of singles matches start on the hard courts of Mar del Plata.
Even with Nadal, the Spanish may have struggled so it comes as no surprise that the South Americans are priced at 1/5 to win the Davis Cup outright.
The tie takes place from 21-23 November so make sure you keep an eye on our updated Davis Cup betting as the match progresses.
