Punter wins £1000 after placing £100,000 on Djokovic victory!
A William Hill punter from South Kensington won £1000 earlier today after placing a monster £100,000 on Djokovic to win his first round match at the French Open.
The punter, who is believed to have started his winning run with a £6,000 on Djokovic almost two months ago, also staked £96,000 on Nathan Cleverly to win his fight at odds of 1/16 and duly collected £6000.
"As far as we can tell, the mystery punter tends to back both Nadal & Djokovic at big odds-on prices in the early rounds of the big tournaments. Outside of tennis he seems to have some boxing knowledge having backed both Cleverly and a cage fighter earlier this year. It is a risky strategy but one that has paid off so far!" said Hill's spokesman Rupert Adams.
