6/5 For Skyfall To Be Highest Grossing Ever!
Steve G And Becks To Battle It Out For Bond Role...6/5 For Skyfall To Be Highest Grossing Ever!
Daniel Craig has put his support behind Steven Gerrard to succeed him as the next James Bond - causing bookmakers William Hill to offer odds on other sportsmen who could step into those incredibly shiny shoes when the sixth Bond hangs up his Walther PPK.
With little or no acting experience past "Oi Roberto, pass us the Pringles," William Hill make Steven Gerrard 500/1 to be named as Bond number seven. David Beckham certainly has the looks to seamlessly slip into Bond's starched suits but he is still 500/1 to be the next 007. David Haye is 250/1 having made no secret of his desire to move into acting.
Any current professional sportsman to be named as the next Bond is 66/1.
"The role of Bond is a very energetic one and it would not be beyond the realms of possibility to see a sportsman step into the role," said William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly.
More likely is Sam Worthington at 3/1 with William Hill, while Damian Lewis is 5/1 second favourite.
Vinnie Jones is 50/1 to be the next James Bond although his acting style probably lends itself more to being a Bond villain than the main man.
Skyfall is 6/5 to break the UK highest opening weekend gross record set by Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban set in 2004.
"Skyfall is by far the most anticipated movie event of 2012 and there will extra showings and special previews to cope with the huge demand and it will certainly push Harry Potter close," said William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly.
