Andy Murray Heads SPOTY 2013 Betting Ahead Of Biggest Year Of Career

After the fantastic sporting year that was 2012, 2013 looks set to be another corker. Andy Murray currently heads the betting for the 2013 Sports Personality based on the fact that now he has finally won his first major, the next cannot be far away (he is 6/5 to win one Grand Slam, 9/2 to win two, 25/1 three and 125/1 to win all four). Alastair Cook is 6/1 joint second favourite with Jess Ennis to win the award and in an Ashes year (England are 8/15 to win the series against Australia in the summer) there will be few who bet against him (Kevin Peitersen is 25/1 with Graeme Swann and James Anderson 33/1).

"2013 will have to go a very long way to trump 2012 in terms of sporting achievement, but despite that, we still look like we are in for a fantastic year," said William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly.
