Andy Murray - Most Popular Winner In BBCSPOTY History

Andy Murray is the biggest certainty in the recorded history of the BBCSPOTY, with William Hill offering 1/50 that he goes on to win. In fact William Hill have gone one further and are odds on at 1/2 that Andy is the first winner since at least 2008 to receive over 50% of the votes.

Therefore the real competition looks like the battle to finish second behind Murray and Mo Farah is the current 11/10 favourite with Tony McCoy offered at 7/4. Tour de France winner, Chris Froome is 7/2 and Ben Ainslie 14/1.

"The fact that Andy is not going to be there on the night will make no difference as we finally have a British Wimbledon winner. It is not a question of will Andy win the Sports Personality but by how far will he win it by," said William Hill spokesman Rupert Adams.
