Bookies bet Queen's Speech will be upbeat
The Queen's Christmas Speech is a staple of Christmas Day and William Hill are betting on what she will say during her address.
2012 has been a fantastic year for Britain for many reasons and Hills offer 1/33 that she mentions the Olympic and/or Paralympic Games and 8/1 that she makes reference to the incredible flotilla that went down the Thames in honour of the Diamond Jubilee.
"After her 2011 speech touched on more sombre issues, the 2012 address will undoubtedly be more positive and we think it is almost certain that she will mention the Olympics," said William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly.
On a lighter note, 2012 has also been the year of Gangnam Style and she is 100/1 to mention that, while it is the same price for her to mention the word ‘pleb', after Andrew Mitchell brought the word to prominence this summer.
Will the Queen mention any of these during her Christmas address: 1/33 Olympics; 1/25 Commonwealth; 1/25 William and Kate; 1/1 Great Grandmother; 2/1 Recession; 2/1 Great Grandchild; 6/1 Leveson; 6/1 James Bond; 8/1 Flotilla; 9/1 Twitter; 14/1 Gary Barlow; 20/1 Pudsey the dog; 20/1 Strictly Come Dancing; 20/1 Corgi; 100/1 Omnishambles; 100/1 Pleb; 100/1 Gangnam Style
