Bookmakers will need gas & air if baby is named Alexandra
As Kate Middleton goes into labour bookmakers, William Hill are hoping that the new arrival is not a girl as this has been incredibly well backed in their Royal Baby markets. When the markets were eventually suspended, girl was 8/15 while boy was 11/8.
Should it be a girl, then the names Britain's biggest bookmaker will be hoping to avoid are Alexandra (7/4), Charlotte (6/1) and Diana (12/1) while the most popular boy's names have been George (8/1) and James (10/1).
William Hill are now looking to the future and think that the new arrival could be kept company by an addition to the brood sooner rather than later. It is 6/4 that baby number two arrives next year while it is 7/4 that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have two more children.
"Royal Baby betting has been incredibly popular and it looks like we may finally be able to pay out on the markets," said William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly. "We are excited that the birth is imminent, we just hope the young one is not a girl named Alexandra."
It is 10/11 that baby number two is a boy and the same price that it is a girl.
Should baby number one want to follow in Mummy and Daddy's footsteps, it is 2/1 that he or she goes to University at St Andrews.
