Brits and Oscars Ceremony Updates
BRITS Betting Closes With Hot Favourites Across The Board
William Hill have closed the betting on Tuesday evening's BRIT Awards and it looks like there can only be one winner. As the book slammed shut on the Best British Single, Adele's Skyfall offered at odds of 2/9 was leading the way by quite some distance - miles ahead of Impossible by James Arthur at 7/1. Adele had originally been a 12/1 chance but the weight of money behind her saw her odds collapse.
In the most topsy turvey of all the markets offered, One Direction were heading the betting in Best British Band until Mumford and Sons won the Grammy for Best Album. At that point, their odds of winning the BRIT were slashed from 3/1 to 2/7.
The biggest bet on this year's BRITs has been placed on Ben Howard for Best Male. £500 was staked at 5/1 before Howard's odds shortened to 2/5. If the English singer-songwriter scoops the statue, the brave punter will bag a rather neat £3,000.
"When we closed the betting, five of the six markets that we were offering for the BRIT Awards had odds-on favourites and it looks as though the destinations of the top awards are all but decided," said William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly.
Best Single: Skyfall 12/1 in to 1/3
Best Male: Ben Howard 5/1 in to 2/5
Best Group: Mumford and Sons 3/1 in to 2/7
Best Album: Emeli Sande 3/1 in to 1/6
Betting is now closed on this evening's Brit awards
Oscars: Angelina Doing The Double Leg This Year?
Bookies William Hill are getting geared up for what is expected to be one of the busiest Oscar betting weeks in years. One of the biggest talking points of last year's Oscars was the Angelina leg split and William Hill are speculating on which leg will get the call up this year if not both! To go with the right leg again is a 2/1 shot, the left leg 4/7 and the double offered at 11/2!
"Angelina seriously crashed the party last year, as her leg bombing went viral and she might not be able to resist another crack at the whip," said William Hill spokesman Rupert Adams.
Daniel Day Lewis looks a certainty to deliver an Oscar at 1/50 with Adele looking very good at 1/9 to win the Best Original Song Oscar.
Argo looks likely to produce the biggest shock of the Oscars having been backed in from 3/1 to 1/6 with William Hill to win Best Film.
