Clooney and Streep on the drift for Oscars following SAG Awards
Following the success of The Help at the Screen Actors Guild Awards, William Hill bookmakers have cut the price of it winning the Oscar for best picture from 33/1 to 25/1, although, The Artist remains in pole position to scoop the big one at 1/6. Jean Dujardin has also come in to 7/4 from 2/1 after winning the Best Actor award.
Meryl Streeps iron grip on the best actress Oscar seems to be loosening, as Viola Davis, star of The Help, won the SAG award, her odds have been slashed from 7/2 to 6/5.
"The Screen Actors Guild Awards are all about the actors and while Meryl Streep and George Clooney should be worried that their challengers received the gongs, The Artist looks like it still has the edge over its competitors ahead of the big one," said Hill's spokesman Joe Crilly.
