Gwyneth to be apple of Cowell's eye?
Gwyneth Paltrow has been the subject of a gamble at William Hill to become a permanent judge on the X-Factor. She is now priced at 16/1, having been as long as 66/1 at the start of the week.
In recent weeks, Gwyneth has shown the many strings to her bow by appearing on Glee, singing at the Oscars and the Grammys and signing up to record a country album and Hill's punters believe that this versatility could stand her in good stead as a musical mentor. Gary Barlow is the 2/1 favourite to be named as an X-Factor judge, while Katy Perry is 7/2.
"Simon has been playing his cards very close to his chest and out of nowhere, Gwyneth has emerged as a contender for the job," said Hill's spokesman Joe Crilly.
Hills are offering 9/4 that Gwyneth gets a number 1 single before the end of the year and 50/1 that she gets the Christmas number 1 single. She is 8/1 for her new country album to reach number 1.
