More controversy and shocks afoot in the 7th elimination

After a week where the papers gossip columns have been going in to overdrive with comments from judges, actions from the house and of course, Jedward, we still have the quietest of all the contestants once again favourite to go as Lloyd heads the elimination market at odds of 8/11.

All the hype this week has surrounded Danyl Johnson who at 6/1 may have his backers to go next as there have been numerous reports about him not getting on with anyone, being very difficult in the house and Simon Cowell having had enough of him.

With all these bizarre goings on it is somewhat suitably George Michael week and judging by the way things are going, George would feel right at home amongst all this madness.

He has had his likeability problems from day one as he found out when shockingly in the bottom two and it is feasible that Cowell will let him go to concentrate on his main hope, current favourite Olly who despite not being the best singer has accrued an army of fans and is as big as 25/1 to depart this week.

Stacey Solomon at 20/1 and Joe McElderry at 14/1 all look safe and are starting to look increasingly like the final three as the field is whittled down.

Many will be stunned by the fact that both Lloyd and Jedward (who are 9/4 to go this week) are still in and Louis has admitted that he expects the twins to get the chop imminently.

However reports have come out suggesting that people in Ireland have found a way to vote (usually they can't) and if this is true then Jedward could find new supporters coming out in droves to vote for them (providing of course Ireland aren't ashamed of them) and this would almost certainly condemn Lloyd to elimination.

Having had a peek at the reported song choices this week though there could be a possible shock.

Olly for a start has "Fast Love" which is one of George Michael's worst songs and the conspiracy theorists will be out suggesting Cowell wants him out now as his voice is not strong enough to realistically be a recording artists, while Danyl has been given "Careless Whisper" which is a classic that everyone will know and could well keep him in.

Jedward have an outstanding song "I'm Your Man" which they can ham up to the extreme and if this is true they look safe for next week. Joe has "Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me" which is an outstanding song which could steal the show.

Stacey has "If I Can't Make You Love Me" which is more obscure but will be good for her voice and Lloyd's only hope is that he is singing "Faith" and while it will no doubt be terrible, if he comes out in a leather jacket and sunglasses and pulls off a reasonable performance his army of teenage girl fans could come out voting in force.

A speculative bet on Olly for bottom two at 6/1 looks a good bet simply down to his terrible song choice, while Danyl at 7/4 will be popular due to his public persona. The running order could be crucial with the people who perform first always seeming to do worse.

In a straight sing off between Lloyd and anyone else (even the twins), Lloyd will be gone so wouldn't put anyone off taking the 8/11, but he has survived so many weeks that those looking for a more speculative bet at a bigger price could do worse than Olly in the bottom two at 6/1 in what would be yet another twist in this baffling X-Factor puzzle.
