Olympic Velodrome Set To Strike Gold At Stirling Prize
The Olympic Velodrome has emerged as the 2/1 favourite with William Hill for this year's RIBA Stirling Prize for Architecture following the announcement of the shortlist on Thursday. The majestic building was the first of the Olympic structures at Stratford to be opened and now looks set to win British architecture's biggest prize. The Evelyn Grace Academy in Brixton is the 5/2 second favourite, ahead of the Royal Shakespeare Company Theatre in Stratford-Upon-Avon at 4/1. The other contenders are Museum Flokwang at 5/1, The Angel Building 7/1 and An Gaelaras 8/1.
"With the winner set to be announced in October, the early Stirling Prize prices suggest that Team GB will be striking gold before the Games even begin," said Hill's spokesman Joe Crilly.
Sterling Prize: 2/1 Olympic Velodrome, 5/2 Evelyn Grace Academy, 4/1 Royal Shakespeare Co., 5/1 Museum Flokwang, 7/1 The Angel Building, 8/1 An Gaelaras.
