Oscars: More Certainties Than Ever Before!
The latest betting from William Hill suggests that of the major Six Oscar categories there are four virtual certainties and only two awards that could go either way.
1/50 shots, Daniel Day Lewis (Best Actor) & Anne Hathaway (Best Supporting Actress), have as good as got their statues on the mantelpiece.
Argo has been the surprise package of the award season and it is no different here with William Hill slashing the original price from 5/1 to 1/6. Whilst in the absence of Ben Affleck, Steven Spielberg is 1/5 to be named Best Director.
Jennifer Lawrence is the 4/7 favourite to be named Best Actress, but Emannuelle Riva is on a charge and her price has halved from 6/1 to 3/1 since the BAFTAs. Tommy Lee Jones is 11/10 to be named Best Supporting Actor but he should be looking over his shoulder as Christoph Waltz is catching him and can be backed at 6/4.
Adele is 1/9 to add another award to her growing list by winning Best Original Song and it is 5/1 that she gets overexcited in the acceptance speech and swears live on camera. William Hill are also offering 3/1 that all Six Bonds appear on stage during the ceremony.
"It may not even be worth watching the Oscars this year as there are more odds on favourites than ever before," said William Hill spokesman Rupert Adams. "Knowing Hollywood though, there is every chance there could be a sting in the tail."
