Poulter In Running For Sports Personality
Ian Poulter has crashed the shortlist for the BBC Sports Personality of the Year, according to William Hill, who have slashed the price of him winning from 100/1 to 33/1 and Team Europe are 14/1 to win Team of the Year.
Europe are the 10/11 favourites to win the 2014 Ryder Cup, with the USA 11/10 to win at Gleneagles. The latest odds from William Hill suggest that Paul McGinley is the favourite to Captain Europe in 2014, Colin Montgomerie 3/1 and Jose Maia Olazabal is 5/1 to keep the captaincy.
"Ian Poulter single handedly turned around Europe's fortunes on Saturday evening and he has to be a contender for the Sports Personality this year," said William Hill spokesman Rupert Adams. "Olazabal did such a good job we think there is a chance he will retain the captaincy in 2014."
