Prospects look anything but grim for Aidan

Nicolo Festa and FYD have become the first acts to be voted off the 2010 series of X Factor. Wagner Fiuza-Carrilho, who was odds on to be eliminated this week, survived the public vote to make it through to the next stage of X Factor.

Irish singer Mary Byrne was another to survive the public vote after she wowed both the public and the judges with her brilliant rendition of James Brown's 'It's A Man's World'. The performance did not go unnoticed by bookmakers William Hill - who have slashed the soulful singer's odds from 25/1 to 9/1 to win this year's X Factor.

Meanwhile, Aidan Grimshaw leapfrogged Matt Cardle to become the new 7/2 favourite to win the show.

'It was a stunning performance by Mary,' said William Hill spokesman Tony Kenny 'She's shown the world that she has the X-Factor - and we've had to seriously reconsider her odds of winning the show.'

'We've taken hundred's of bets on Mary to win X Factor in our Irish shops, and we'll face a high five-figure payout if she goes on to win it.'
