Student’s Graduation Gamble Pays Off!
Two University students had double cause to celebrate on Thursday when they graduated. Chris Brooker and Hannah Grayson donned their Durham University caps and gowns to celebrate passing their degrees while at the same time collecting £600 from bookmakers William Hill.
In June 2010, Chris was scratching his head to come up with a way to prove to Hannah that their relationship was more than a flash in the pan and contacted Hills to see if they could help. He was offered odds of 6/1 that they would still be a couple on Graduation Day and he promptly staked £100 of his meagre student income on the bet coming to fruition. Chris from Dudley and Hannah from Harrogate both celebrated their 2:1 degrees and chinked their glasses to the end of University and a successful win with William Hill.
"Chris has probably had to spend less time boozing with the boys and more time watching Jeremy Kyle and Neighbours to ensure that his relationship lasted the course," said Hill's spokesman Joe Crilly.
"Cheers to William Hill for helping me come up with this bet," said Chris. "Hannah did not think I was as committed to the relationship as she was and this was my way of proving to her that I was."
