Watch You Language: Boat Race Coxes 6/1 To Turn Air Blue!
The dark blues of Oxford are 2/5 favourites to win this year's boat race, the same price as they were last year, when they were turned over by Cambridge, while the light blues are 7/4. William Hill are expecting anywhere in the region of £100,000 to be staked on the race in the next couple of days as weather conditions and news of injuries become clearer.
Known for their over excitability at the start of the race, it is 6/1 that the race commentators ‘apologise' for the language of one or both of the coxes.
"You would have thought that spending so much on their education would have taught the coxes to choose their language carefully but almost every year, the air is turned dark and light blue with profanity during the race," said William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly.
When last year's race was restarted after the disruption, Oxford were severely hampered by the fact that one of their blades snapped and William Hill are offering 25/1 that any crew suffers the same mishap this time around.
