September Sports Preview

September promises to be one of the best months of the sporting calendar in 2012, with the domestic seasons of some of the biggest sports across the World getting under way, whilst some of the most important tournaments are decided.

We start in Belgium where, after a lengthy summer break, Formula One returns, and Spa-Francochamps promises as ever to be one of the most fiercely fought races of the season. Later in the month sees Monza play host to the big time, with home favourites Ferrari looking to come out on top, before the month finishes with the annual night race in Singapore. With the two Red Bull drivers and Lewis Hamilton a couple of wins behind Fernando Alonso, it will be an intense battle from now until the end of the season to see who comes out on top. You can find our full range of Formula One betting here.

Thursday 6th sees the start of the hard hitting NFL season, with last year's Super Bowl winners New York Giants hosting the Dallas Cowboys at 1am. In Austria, the UCI Cycling World Championships get under way, where Great Britain will look to repeat their Olympic success, whilst home favourites Bradley Wiggins and Mark Cavendish compete for Team Sky in the Tour of Britain, which begins on the 9th and is staged over a week.

That weekend sees the start of the Road to Brazil 2014 as the home nations kick off their qualifying campaigns. England and the Republic of Ireland face tough away trips to Moldova and Kazakhstan respectively, whilst Scotland host Serbia and Wales travel to Belgium. Four days later, and this time the Serbs host Wales, whilst Scotland host Macedonia and Northern Ireland play Luxembourg. For England, a repeat of their last Euro 2012 group game sees them host Ukraine. You can view our full range of World Cup markets here.

The Premier League continues with an array of live games on Sky Sports and ESPN, and after a great start to their season, can Chelsea continue their success? The Champions League and Europa League group stages get under way later in the month, with an array of UK teams hoping to get through to the knockout stages. Across Europe domestic leagues burst into life, with William Hill TV covers the German Bundesliga, Dutch Eredivise, Portuguese Liga Sagres as well as a whole host of other leagues from across the World.

The domestic cricket season draws to a close in the third week of the month, as the last round of County Championship matches take place with Warwickshire looking favourites to lift the trophy. The Clydesdale Bank 40 Final is played the following Saturday, and after Hampshire took the honours in the t20, who will be crowned the 40 over champions?
In International Cricket, England travel to Sri Lanka to defend their World T20 crown. Stuart Broad captains the side as they travel to the sub continent, with a squad that includes a group array of youngsters including big hitting Jos Butler, and calm-headed Royals bowler Danny Briggs.

The last English classic of the year takes place at Doncaster as some of the best runners and riders come together for the St Leger on Saturday 15th, but all attention will be on Camelot as the Aidan O'Brien trained Colt goes for the first Triple Crown since Nijinsky in 1970. You can find our range of betting on Future Races here.

The month finishes with one of the most important tournament sin golf. The Ryder Cup, played at Medinah, is considered one the fifth major in golf, and after a emotional victory for Europe at Celtic Manor in 2012, Jose Maria Olazabal leads the team to the USA, looking to win a fifth Ryder Cup in six tournaments.
