A Spanish perspective on the World Cup Final
Last night the whole of Spain was struck by the excitement. The whole country sat in silence whilst tension filled the air at the prospect of making it through to the World Cup Final for the first time in history.
Carlos Puyol´s headed goal sent rays of happiness, expectation and emotion soaring across the country, affecting everyone from the young to the very old.
One step closer to achieving our dream of international recognition for being the best national team on earth.
For the second time, Spain was not divided between Real Madrid and Barcelona. On this occasion we are all "La Roja", a national team that´s in it for the kill.
As with every other Spaniard, I hope that the World Cup will be dressed in red and yellow this year. Our failed attempt to beat Switzerland has only made us stronger, and we are growing more and more indestructible with each game we have played, and we are now ready to take on Holland in a final that is sure to go down in Spain´s history. It won´t be easy, but we are ready for it.
All eyes in Spain are on David Villa (4/1 First scorer). He has scored 5 goals in the tournament and is the favorite to win the World Cup Top Goalscorer award (8/11).
Sneijder (Top Goalscorer, 5/2) has also scored 5 though, meaning that Sunday will not only offer a race for the World Cup, but also for the Top Scorer award.
