Holland v Denmark betting preview

This attractive looking all-European tie sees fifth favourites Holland take on rank outsiders Denmark in Johannesburg.

Holland are full of big names and are rightly favourites to win Group E (4/7) as well as win this match (4/6).

Holland have been serial under-achievers in International football's biggest competition with no wins and just two runners up spots in '74 and '78. This year could be different though and a convincing win over Denmark could be the perfect way to start.

With players such as van der Vaart, Sneijder, Robben, van Persie, Kuyt and Huntelaar they certainly have the names to overpower Denmark.

I think Holland could win at a canter and the best price for me is to back them on the -1 handicap at 9/5.

Arjen Robben and Robin van Persie are the clear favourites to open the scoring in such an important match and the 4/1 each reflects this.

Denmark (7/2) could have trouble keeping up and Stoke's keeper Thomas Sorensen could be in for a busy day. Nicklas Bendtner is undoubtedly their greatest scoring threat and he is 7/1 to score first.

There could be plenty of goals in this match with the attacking players in Holland's ranks. Over 2.5 goals looks like a decent bet at 23/20.

In 27 matches between these sides, Denmark have picked up just six wins to Holland's eleven with ten draws so historically, it looks good for the Oranjes.
