US Presidential Election race

| BY News Team

In the approach to November’s US Presidential Election, there has been plenty of movement in the markets for who will take over from Joe Biden as President of the United States and move into the White House.

The current standings now see two main competitors go head-to-head in the market for the presidential race since Joe Biden’s withdrawal a month ago, representing the Democratic and Republican parties.

We take a look at the two favourites below.

Kamala Harris 4/5

The current Vice President of the United States and right-hand woman to Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, looks to be in the driving seat with regards to November’s presidential election having been in office for the entirety of Joe Biden’s tenure. Ever since Biden’s withdrawal the market has seen some resounding support for the Democratic candidate as she’s shortened well into favouritism in recent weeks.

This fluctuation in the market can partly be attributed to the Democrats’ faith in their new leader, as support for Joe Biden dwindled following a couple of lacklustre debates with main rival Donald Trump, which left the world wondering whether he was fit to serve another term. Given the Democrats no longer have to deal with the potential complications internally should Biden still have been the main candidate, Kamala Harris has steamed well into contention with full backing.

Since taking over the campaign, Harris has managed to turn around Biden’s polling numbers to now lead Donald Trump in a national polling average as well as securing some valuable ground ahead of her rival in the Northern states of Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, all of which act as swing states.

Tim Walz looks to be the dream pairing for Harris and the two seem to be going from strength to strength since they began campaigning with one another. The allure of the former high school football coach offers a breath of fresh air into the presidential race and this’ll be sure to have the intended effect on voters.

Donald Trump EVS

In the red corner is a man that needs no introduction, Donald Trump. It’s fair to say that Trump has had a rather tumultuous campaign thus far, sitting just shy of Harris in the market as things stand, having been the overwhelming favourite for months on end.

Trump has of course been in office before and as a former president is clued up on how to win an election, so his even-money price is certainly a fair reflection on his chances. That said, Trump has had to deal with some rather significant bumps in the road as it were, with 34 felony charges he pleaded not guilty to just three months ago.

The Republicans do seem to have lost control in the polling within some of the swing states and that could spell disaster for Trump’s campaign come polling day, as these states have typically been the ones to either win you the election, or lose it. As it stands, Harris looks to be ahead of, or tied with, Trump in six of these swing states out of just seven, and that could prove the difference to see the Democrats remain in power and keep Trump at bay.
