Premier League Betting Preview: A two-horse title race?

| BY News Team
League 2

After Liverpool’s recent blip, is the Premier League down to a two-horse title race? The betting would suggest so, with the Reds now 200/1.

Only a point separates Arsenal and Man City, with both sides in action on Saturday. The Gunners are up first against Bournemouth (12:30) before City welcome Wolves to the Etihad at 17:30.

At the bottom, tonight’s clash between Luton and Everton is huge for the Hatters. Particularly given their rivals in the fight for survival, Nottingham Forest, play the already relegated Sheffield Utd tomorrow.

As always, we’ll have great offers on all the action, including EVS Epic Odds on Martin Odegaard to have a shot on target, Nicole Holliday’s picks and Enhanced Odds. And, if you’ve not used it already, don’t forget your Epic Boost is available before you get a new one on Sunday.

So, let’s look at three of the games in the Premier League this weekend…

Luton v Everton – Friday @ 20:00

Everton have pulled themselves clear of the relegation zone after three successive wins, including that 2-0 win over Liverpool at Goodison Park. They’re now 11 points above Luton, who occupy 18th place.

The Toffees’ revival has left it looking like two from three will join Sheffield Utd in the Championship next season – Luton, Burnley or Nottingham Forest. Victory in tonight’s game would lift the Hatters out of the drop zone.

Here are some top bets for Luton v Everton:

Idrissa Gueye shot on target, Everton to win & over 2 goals – Nicole’s 11/2 pick

  • Everton have won each of their last three league games.
  • Luton have won just one of their last 14 Premier League games (D3 L10), with no side picking up fewer points than the Hatters since the start of this run (6).
  • Gueye has scored two goals in his last three league games.

Carlton Morris to score the last goal – 5/1

  • Morris is Luton’s top scorer in the Premier League this season with 10 goals.
  • He’s scored in four of his last six appearances at Kenilworth Road and netted in the reverse.
  • 42% of Luton’s Premier League goals this season have come in the final 15 minutes of games (76th minute onwards), the highest share of any side this term (20/48).

Amadou Onana, Idrissa Gueye & Albert Sambi Lokonga Each Over 2 Tackles – Was 4/1 Now 5/1 with Enhanced Odds

  • Onana and Gueye are both averaging over two tackles per game in the league for Everton this season.
  • Onana made five tackles when the sides met in the FA Cup in January and three in their league meeting at Goodison Park.
  • Luton midfielder Lokonga made four tackles in last weekend’s 2-1 defeat to Wolves.

Sheffield Utd v Nottingham Forest – Saturday @ 15:00

Chris Wilder’s Blades will be playing Championship football next season. Nottingham Forest are battling to avoid joining them. Forest sit a point above Luton and could find themselves in the bottom three at kick-off. Forest are winless in four and haven’t won away from home in the league since Boxing Day.

Here are some top bets for Sheffield Utd v Forest:

Sheffield Utd to win – 18/5

  • Forest have won just one of their last 19 Premier League games against promoted sides (D12 L6)
  • The last time Sheffield Utd were relegated from the Premier League (2020-21), they won their first game after their relegation was confirmed (1-0 v Brighton).
  • Relegated sides have avoided defeat in their next match after their relegation was confirmed on four of the last seven occasions.

Forest over 2.5 match goals – 7/4

  • Sheffield Utd haven’t kept a clean sheet in any of their last 19 Premier League games, also conceding at least two goals in each of their last nine.
  • Sheffield Utd have conceded 51 goals in their 17 Premier League home games this season.

Chris Wood and Ben Brereton Diaz to score – 4/1 with Build #YourOdds

  • Three of Brereton’s five league goals since joining from Villarreal on loan have come at Bramall Lane.
  • No Blades player has had more shots on target than the Chile international (17).
  • Wood is Nottingham Forest’s leading scorer in the league this season (12).
  • Nine of his 12 goals have either put Forest in the lead (4) or drawn them level (5).

Liverpool v Spurs – Sunday @ 16:30

Liverpool desperately need a win against Spurs on Sunday to give them any chance of getting back into the title race. They’ll be buoyed by the fact that Spurs have lost their last three – including a 2-0 reverse at Chelsea on Thursday.

Spurs also have plenty to play for, although that loss at Stamford Bridge has left their top-four ambitions hanging by a thread.

Here are some top bets for Liverpool v Spurs:

Liverpool to win and BTTS – 5/4

  • Liverpool have won 19 of their last 29 home Premier League matches against Spurs (D9 L1).
  • The Reds have conceded the opening goal in 16 Premier League games this season.
  • Jurgen Klopp’s side have kept just one clean sheet in their last 14 league matches, including none in their last eight.
  • Son Heung-min has scored in each of his last four Premier League appearances against Liverpool.

Darwin Nunez over 2 offsides – 18/5

  • Nunez has been caught offside more than any other Premier League player this season (30).
  • Has been flagged offside seven times in his last four home league games.

Liverpool goal from 76th minute to full time – EVS

  • Liverpool (3) v Tottenham (3) has provided six 90th-minute winners in the Premier League, the most of any fixture in the competition’s history.
  • The last two league meetings between the sides have been won courtesy of a 90th-minute winner for the home team.
