How Much Do WWE Wrestlers Get Paid?

| BY News Team

One of the biggest industries in the world of sports entertainment, wrestling – and the WWE in particular – is watched by millions of fans around the world, with aficionados tuning in for the biggest wrestling events throughout the year.

The Royal Rumble and WrestleMania are just two of the most popular events on the calendar, with viewers from all four corners of the globe glued to the television in a bid to watch the biggest WWE stars battle it out for glory.

What is the average WWE salary?

If you are one of the best wrestlers, you can enjoy a lucrative career – with the average WWE superstar earning an estimated £400,000 per year. However, some earn much less than that while the biggest names often agree multi-million pound contracts.

Here, we look at some of the highest paid WWE wrestlers in action today. These figures are household names in the entertainment business and you’ll likely be seeing plenty of them at the next big WWE pay-per-view show!

Seth Rollins – $9 millionper year

Known predominantly by his ring name of ‘Seth “Freakin” Rollins’, Colby Lopez debuted as a professional wrestler way back in 2005.

His personal life has hit the headlines in recent years – Lopez got into a relationship with Becky Lynch in 2019, and the couple have since had a child together and got married.

A career that started with Ring of Honor led to a deal with the WWE in 2010 and it didn’t take long for Lopez to enjoy success, firstly with FCW and then the rebranded NXT.

Soon after, he was victorious in the Tag Team Championship, becoming the 19th Grand Slam champion as he racked up a comprehensive list of honours.

Alongside his successful wrestling career, Lopez has also featured in various films and video games. Those endeavours have helped to boost his net worth astronomically in recent years.

Randy Orton – $10 million per year

One of the biggest icons in WWE history, Randy Orton is a wrestling legend and he has been a leading figure in the industry since bursting onto the scene over two decades ago.

No stranger to controversy, Orton is a third-generation wrestler, and became the youngest champion in WWE history at 24 years of age. He debuted as a professional wrestler in 2000 following a couple of years in the marine corps.

Orton has the most appearances on pay-per-view of any male WWE wrestler plus has 10 WWE Championships to his name, which is second only to John Cena (13) all-time.

Some of Orton’s moves have transcended the WWE fanbase, with the iconic RKO becoming a staple of meme culture. “Look at Randy Orton slithering in” is just as familiar to non-wrestling fans as it is with his loyal followers.

Roman Reigns – $15 million per year

Today’s wrestling fans know Roman Reigns as one of the greatest around and his legacy as a WWE legend is all but secure. In fact, he has been the WWE undisputed champion on four separate occasions, making him one of the most successful wrestlers ever.

Wrestling wasn’t always the focus for Reigns, however. A career in the National Football League was his ultimate goal, with Reigns playing college football at Georgia Tech but he failed to make it at the highest level and retired after one season in the CFL.

Over the last few years, Reigns has collected records on a regular basis and has headlined WrestleMania on six occasions. It’s little surprise that he leads the way with a $15 million salary and he is undoubtedly one of the highest earning wrestlers of all-time.
