Solskjaer voted greatest Impact Sub of the Premier League era

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been voted the greatest Impact Sub of the Premier League era in latest research from William Hill.
The leading bookmaker spoke to 1,000 UK football fans to determine which player had the biggest Impact from the bench since the league’s inception in 1992 as part of their new Impact Sub promotion, with former Manchester United striker Solskjaer coming out on top with 23% of the vote.
England forward Peter Crouch, who played for seven clubs across 18 seasons in the English top flight, earned 11% of responses behind Solskjaer, with Olivier Giroud, Jermain Defoe and Divock Origi also finishing in the top five.
Lee Phelps, spokesperson for William Hill, said: “Ole Gunnar Solskjaer cemented his place as Sir Alex Ferguson’s supersub during Manchester United’s Premier League dominance in the 1990s and early 2000s and it is no surprise to see the Norwegian top our poll of greatest Premier League Impact Subs.
“Solskjaer enjoyed plenty of famous cameos off the bench, including his winning goal in the 1999 Champions League final, and his legacy clearly remains strong, finishing ahead of Peter Crouch, OIivier Giroud, Jermain Defoe and Divock Origi from the 1,000 UK football fans we spoke to.
“Despite memorable goals from a number of players since Solskjaer hung up his boots in 2007, The Baby-Faced Assassin reigns supreme as the best Impact Sub of the Premier League era.”
