Nick Luck’s William Hill blog: Cheltenham November Meeting Sunday Preview

William Hill ambassador Nick Luck previews Sunday’s racing, tipping an each-way chance in the Greatwood on the final day of the November Meeting at Cheltenham.

LEADER IN THE PARK gets the vote in a good-looking novice chase to open up November Sunday at Cheltenham (1.45pm). Although he has work to do with the front two on ratings, he’s really not far behind Peaky Boy on their running here in April, and there’s a strong chance from his overall profile that his running style and physique will bring about the most improvement over fences.

MATATA can reverse form with Calico in the two-mile handicap (2.20pm). There’s a possibility of quite an easy lead for him this time, and he’s likely to get quite a positive ride from Sam Twiston-Davies.

ABUFFALOSOLDIER could be the answer to the staying handicap (2.55pm). He’s in form, largely progressive and consistent, not something that applies to many of the rest. Of more interest, however, is that this is his first try at a real extended trip, something that should suit him very well on pedigree and running style. Expect him to be handy and make the most of his light weight against some exposed rivals.

ROYAL WAY is a very interesting each way chance at a nice price in the Greatwood (3.30pm). I was convinced coming into this season that the handicapper had missed him with a mark of 124, and knew full well Gary and Josh Moore wouldn’t squander that by having him peak in a conditions race on his comeback, where he patently needed the run and ran on takingly having blown up. That will have served its purpose, and he’ll be hard to keep out of the frame today.

GLIMPSE OF GALA looks the interesting one in the Southern National at Fontwell (2.05pm). She was a genuine stayer over hurdles two years ago, but has generally been racing shy of her optimum trip since. She posted a serious effort against a very smart graded mare at Warwick last time, and will find the tempo and opposition a good deal easier here. Big chance.
