‘Freezing this Christmas’ Now Second Favourite For Christmas Number One

Sir Starmer and the Granny Harmers have seen their odds to top the UK charts on Christmas Day slashed by William Hill.
The group’s ‘Freezing this Christmas’ single, which criticises the Prime Minister’s decision to cut winter fuel payments this year, has been backed from 20/1 into 12/1 in the space of 24 hours.
That price means the song now occupies second place in the betting to be this year’s Christmas number one, behind only runaway favourites Wham! (1/16).
Spokesperson for William Hill, Lee Phelps, said: “Sir Starmer and the Granny Harmers’ parody of Mud’s festive classic is now a serious contender to top the charts on Christmas Day having gained notable traction since the beginning of the week.
“We’ve therefore been forced to slash our odds for ‘Freezing this Christmas’ to be this year’s number one on 25th December, now trading at 12/1 from 20/1 on Wednesday.
“Wham! remain the firm favourites at 1/16, but with tabloids increasingly picking up on the BBC’s refusal to play the song, we may yet witness a miracle next week.”
