Premier League Predictions And Betting Tips for Thursday 16th January 2025

Ipswich Town v Brighton & Hove Albion – Thursday, 7.30pm
Portman Road is set for another Premier League night under the lights as Ipswich Town take on Brighton & Hove Albion on Thursday evening. – Bet with William Hill.
Ipswich Town find themselves in the bottom three of the Premier League along with the two sides they were promoted with last season. However, you feel like Ipswich have a little more to offer and probably have the better chance of survival. The Tractor Boys have won three of their twenty league games so far, two of which have come in their last five PL outings. Kieran McKenna’s side could see themselves move up to sixteenth with a win in this one, depending on results elsewhere which just shows how tight it is at the bottom.
Brighton travel to Suffolk in the hope of putting an end to their poor recent record in the Premier League, the Seagulls haven’t won a PL game in their last eight attempts, playing out six stalemates in the process. The poor form has seen Fabian Hurzeler’s side drop down the table into tenth after a bright start to the campaign. The dream for Brighton will of course be another European tour, with just five points separating them from the top seven it’s still definitely something they can achieve but they must find a way to win these close encounters.
These two sides played out a goalless draw back in September in the reverse fixture, i think we’re in for another close encounter here but i’m going to edge towards an away win with both teams finding the back of the net, as has happened in eight of Brighton’s ten PL away games this season.
Prediction: Both Teams To Score & Brighton to win, Ipswich Town 1-2 Brighton.
Manchester United v Southampton – Thursday, 8pm
Southampton will make the long trip north on Thursday night as they take on Manchester United at Old Trafford in the English top-flight. – Bet with William Hill for this Premier League clash.
Manchester United have won just one of their last five Premier League games but they are starting to show real positive signs up Ruben Amorim. Having spent his first full week with the squad, Man United travelled to Anfield and answered a lot of their critics with a very respectable 2-2 draw with the league leaders. That was followed up with one of the best performances i’ve seen from this Manchester United squad, despite Diogo Dalot putting his side up against it following a red card, the Red Devils showed lots of character and determination, something they were rewarded for with a victory against Arsenal on penalties in the FA Cup. We now know what this squad is capable of but they need to show it consistently, a victory here against Southampton in front of their own fans would be a real boost as they look to maintain this momentum.
Despite Southampton turning to Ivan Jurić to try and help them turn things around in the Premier League, it’s not been the case so far. The Saints remain bottom of the league with just one victory from their twenty games so far, they did manage to put their 5-0 battering against Brentford behind them on Sunday evening with a 3-0 victory over Championship side Swansea City in the FA Cup but they are now ten points from safety in the league, if they have any real chance of making a fight of this, they need to start winning soon.
Manchester United enter this one following three consecutive defeats in the league on home soil but given the way they’ve played in their last two outings, i’m going to back United to get the job done fairly comfortably.
Prediction: Manchester United To Score 3+, Manchester United 3-0.
