Pertemps Final Hurdle Betting Preview – Cheltenham Day 3 Tips (2025)

The Pertemps Network Final Handicap Hurdle is the third race on Day 3 of the 2025 Cheltenham Festival and 24 runners have been declared for one of the biggest horse racing betting heats of the season.
We’ve known the early entries for the Pertemps Network Final Handicap Hurdle for some time now but decisions have been made and all eyes will be on Prestbury Park on Thursday afternoon.
Here, we look at some of the leading players in the Cheltenham odds for this year’s race, with a Pertemps Network Final Handicap Hurdle selection ahead of the 2025 renewal.
Getting to the Pertemps Final is almost like an elaborate game of poker for some trainers, with some willing to show their hand early, while others skirt around the periphery but still manage to qualify their horse for the Cheltenham finale.
“Horses that finish in the first 4 in a Qualifier will be eligible for the final” are the current rules stipulated by the BHA, so before placing a bet it is always worth checking out who exactly came where in the qualifiers. You can do that HERE.
The final Qualifier took place in very testing conditions at Naas and Gavin Cromwell’s gambled-on Will The Wise overhauled Maxi Mac Gold in the closing stages. The third placed LUCKY LYREEN however, is the interesting one to take from the race.
Gordon Elliott appears to have brought the seven-year-old slowly to the boil to be spot on for the Festival, and his sixth of 25 behind Grand National-bound Perceval Legallois over three miles at the Dublin Racing Festival is a really good piece of form.
He won’t be short on stamina and off 11st 0lb, he’s a very solid looking 16/1 shot for the each-way value seekers out there.
Padraig Roche trains Win Some Lose Some for JP McManus and he must quite fancy his chances of making an impact at Cheltenham.
Winner of a 20-runner handicap at Leopardstown over Christmas, the six-year-old has interesting credentials. Home-bred out of a daughter of the owner’s top-class mare Like-A-Butterfly, winner of the Mildmay Chase as well as the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle and the Irish Champion Hurdle, he could improve once again and he will be on many a shortlist for the race.
Speaking of the famous green and gold hoops, they will also be worn by the well-fancied Jeriko Du Reponet, who is trained by Nicky Henderson and ridden by Nico de Boinville.
Favourite at one point for last season’s Supreme Novices’ Hurdle, the six-year-old’s form went somewhat awry this November, but he put up a decent show when finishing third to Catch Him Derry at Exeter last month. He should be able to build upon that.
Given the run of form Jamie Snowden and Gavin Sheehan are enjoying at present, it would be foolish to not give their Super Survivor some consideration.
Super Survivor has won his last two. He was nearly favourite for the Welsh National last season when they went chasing with him but things didn’t work out, but he’s nicely back on track in the hurdling sphere.
At bigger odds, Doddiethegreat catches the eye for the Nicky Henderson.
After a fantastic start to his racing career, the nine-year-old had spent quite some time in the doldrums. However, out of the blue, “Doddie” ran a career best in Haydock’s Pertemps Qualifier, finishing a honest second to One Big Bang.
If he can maintain that level of form then odds of 16/1 look very appealing.
SELECTION: LUCKY LYREEN (E/W)
