Now, let’s take a closer look at some betting angles for Wednesday’s Premier League fixtures:
Bournemouth v Ipswich Town – Wednesday, 7.45pm
- Bournemouth’s dream of a first ever FA Cup semi-final evaporated on Sunday after suffering a 2-1 defeat to Manchester City despite going into the half-time break with the lead.
- In the league, Bournemouth have slipped down to tenth after a poor run of form, just one win in their last five Premier League games has left the Cherries three points off the top six.
- Bournemouth have lost their last three league games on home soil, they haven’t won at the Vitality Stadium in the league since January, they’ve never lost four PL games in a row at home.
——————————– - Ipswich Town are slowly heading back to the Championship, with just three league wins from their twenty-nine games so far, they remain in the bottom three and nine points from safety.
- Kieran McKenna’s side have scored first in three of their last four away games in all competitions yet failed to see out the victory.
- This is a fixture that tends to end in a draw, both teams have scored in the last seven meetings between the two, whilst five of those ended in a stalemate, with Bournemouth winning two.
Prediction: Bournemouth To Come From Behind And Win, Bournemouth 2-1 Ipswich Town.
Brighton & Hove Albion v Aston Villa – Wednesday, 7.45pm
- Brighton’s cautious approach in the FA Cup quarter-final against Nottingham Forest on Saturday came back to bite them, suffering defeat on penalties.
- Notwithstanding that, the Seagulls still have so much to play for, given they remain just two points off the top four, with nine games left to play.
- Brighton will be aware of their poor record on home soil against Aston Villa, having won just one of their last seven meetings on the South Coast.
——————————– - Aston Villa confirmed their place in the FA Cup semi-final on Sunday for the first time since 2015, they’ll face Crystal Palace at Wembley with the Villa faithful dreaming of silverware, they are well on their way.
- With the focus now back on the domestic league, Villa will feel like they need to avoid defeat here on the South Coast if they are to finish in the European places, defeat would see them fall five points behind Brighton.
- Four of the last five competitive meetings between these two sides have seen both teams on the scoresheet, whilst Villa have lost just one of their last eight meetings against the Seagulls.
Prediction: Brighton 1-1 Aston Villa, Both Teams To Score & Draw.
Manchester City v Leicester City – Wednesday, 7.45pm
- Manchester City became the first men’s side in FA Cup history to reach seven consecutive semi-final’s after beating Bournemouth 2-1 on Sunday, with silverware well and truly in their sights now.
- It’s undoubtedly the worst season that Pep Guardiola has ever been involved in yet his side remain just one point behind the top four, with a UCL spot still up for grabs in these next nine fixtures.
- This should be fairly straight forward for Manchester City, they’ve won six of their last seven against the Foxes and they’ve scored three or more in four of their last six meetings here at the Etihad.
——————————– - Time is running out for Ruud van Nistelrooy and Leicester City, the 2015/2016 Premier League winners are now nine points from safety with just nine games left to play.
- The Foxes have been on a terrible run of form, winning just one of their last fourteen league games whilst losing all of the remaining thirteen.
- Leicester City have lost their last five Premier League games against Manchester City, whilst they’ve won just once here in their last seven visits.
Prediction: Manchester City 3-0 Leicester City, Manchester City To Score Three Or More Goals.
Newcastle United v Brentford – Wednesday, 7.45pm
- Newcastle United will be given a hero’s welcome home on Wednesday evening following their EFL Cup victory against Liverpool.
- Eddie Howe and co secured the clubs first domestic trophy for seventy years at Wembley and they could end the evening in the top four of the Premier League if the results elsewhere go their way.
- The Magpies’ record against the Bees is a strong one, they’ve lost just two of their last fourteen against Brentford, whilst they’ve won the last three head-to-heads here at St James’ Park.
——————————– - Brentford themselves have started to climb up the Premier League table and it’s mainly down to their recent away form.
- Having struggled on the road for the majority of the season, Thomas Frank’s side made it five away victories in a row with a 2-1 win at Bournemouth, it’s the first time the Bees have won five in a row away from home since they were in League One back in 2010.
- Brentford have scored in all but one of their last seven visits to St James’ Park in all competitions, yet they are still awaiting their first win here.
Prediction: Newcastle United 3-1 Brentford, Both Teams To Score & Newcastle To Win.
Southampton v Crystal Palace – Wednesday, 7.45pm
- Southampton and their fans would have welcomed the international break, in fact i think they’d welcome the end of this season right now.
- The Saints are going down and without a fight, with just nine points from a possible eighty-seven, they are still on course to pick up the fewest number of points from any side in a Premier League season.
- Ultimately, that will now be their aim, they need three points in the next nine games to keep that unwanted record away.
——————————– - Not only did Crystal Palace extend their unbeaten run to five competitive games on Saturday, the Eagles also secured their first FA Cup semi-final since 2022.
- Palace are yet to win a major trophy in English football but given how they are playing right now, Oliver Glasner could well be the man to deliver that first piece of silverware.
- The Eagles are one in the most inform sides away from home right now, having lost just one of their last ten away games in the Premier League.
Prediction: Southampton 1-2 Crystal Palace, Both Teams To Score & Crystal Palace To Win.
