The 2025 Grand National was one to remember, as Willie Mullins made history in the Aintree showpiece.

Below we take a look at the finishing order.

The first six

1st – Nick Rockett

The 33/1 winner of the Grand National this year was Nick Rockett, trained by Willie Mullins and ridden by his son Patrick Mullins. Undoubtedly the highlight of Patrick’s career so far, the winner rounds off a brilliant season after landing both the Thyestes Chase and the Bobby Jo Chase over in Ireland. He’s a chaser on the up, and is a 25/1-shot to defend his crown in next year’s Grand National.

2nd – I Am Maximus

2024’s winner I Am Maximus fell just short of consecutive wins in the race, but it was a brilliant effort off top weight. He was the choice of stable jockey Paul Townend, and he had a brilliant spin round for trainer Willie Mullins. It looks likely he will be back for yet another go at Aintree next season.

3rd – Grangeclare West

Backers of Grangeclare West may well feel a bit hard done by after his juddering error at the last fence, seeing him lose momentum. He travelled brilliantly through the race before the error and stayed on powerfully up the hill to grab third and a Willie Mullins 1-2-3 in the race, showing the dominance of the trainer in big races on both sides of the Irish Sea.

4th – Iroko

Fourth placed this year was Iroko, who saw a flood of money late in the betting, causing him to go off the 13/2 favourite. He looked to handle the National test, jumping and travelling nicely throughout the race but could only manage fourth behind the might of Mullins. He was the best of the British-trained runners and, if continuing to improve, could be a good shout to bring the National back to Britain for the first time since Corach Rambler in 2023.

5th – Meetingofthewaters

A third of JP McManus’ horses home in the first five was another Mullins trained horse in Meetingofthewaters. He was eye-catching in the way that he stayed on up the run-in and there’s no doubt there are more races to be won with him.

6th – Senior Chief

William Hill paid out an enhanced six places on the race, so backers of Senior Chief will have been happy to see the Henry De Bromhead-trained chaser come home in sixth at 40/1.

Other finishers

7th – Minella Cocooner

8th – Hewick

9th – Minella Indo

10th – Twig

11th – Three Card Brag

12th – Beauport

13th – Horantzau d’Airy

14th – Vanillier

15th – Bravemansgame

16th – Chantry House

Non finishers

There were three fallers in this year’s race in Perceval Legallois who fell at the ninth fence, Kandoo Kid who fell at the 21st fence and Broadway Boy who took a heavy fall at the 25th.

Unfortunately, Appreciate It was brought down because of Kandoo Kid’s fall at the 21st fence.

Duffle Coat unseated rider Danny Gilligan at the third fence.

The unique test of the National doesn’t suit some horses, with a further 13 horses unable to complete the race having been pulled up. These horses were Celebre d’Allen, Royale Pagaille, Conflated, Coko Beach, Idas Boy, Threeunderthrufive, Hitman, Monbeg Genius, Stumptown, Intense Raffles, Fil Dor and Stay Away Fay.
