@Footy_Tipster gives his best predictions ahead of this round of fixtures in the Premier League..
We get the action underway at 3pm on Saturday afternoon where Brentford will welcome Brighton & Hove Albion to West London, Bournemouth will look to keep their European dreams alive when they travel to face Crystal Palace, Everton will face Manchester City at Goodison Park for the final time, whilst already-relegated Southampton travel to West Ham.
Saturday night football in the Premier League comes from Villa Park and it’s a big one, as Aston Villa and Newcastle United both battle it out for a vital three points in their hunt for a UEFA Champions League spot.

Now, let’s take a closer look at some betting angles for Saturday’s Premier League fixtures:
Brentford v Brighton & Hove Albion – Saturday, 3pm
- Despite consecutive stalemate’s in the Premier League for Brentford, it’s been a fairly positive couple of outings given they’ve faced both Chelsea and Arsenal, but the Bee’s sit eleventh now and a European spot isn’t out of the equation with just five points separating them from eighth.
- However, the side directly above them is Saturday’s opponents, so defeat here would all but end Brentford’s chance of a top eight finish, it feels like a must win here.
- This will be tough for Brentford though, they’ve not won any of their last nine games at home in all competitions, whilst they’ve beaten Brighton on home soil just once in their last six competitive meetings.
——————————– - Once again, Brighton’s European ambitions took a huge hit on Saturday afternoon after a 2-2 draw with struggling Leicester City at home meant their winless run has now been extended to five games, not ideal at this stage of the season.
- Eighth place in the Premier League could potentially bring another European spot to the top-flight depending on results in other competitions, meaning Brighton must keep the pressure on both Fulham and Bournemouth, they all have forty-eight points prior to this weekend’s action, but Brighton sit tenth on goal difference.
- This is a fixture that tends to end in a stalemate, the reverse fixture ended goalless in December, making it three draws in their last four meetings.
Prediction: Draw, Match Result and 2 or More Goals in the Match – Draw.
Crystal Palace v AFC Bournemouth – Saturday, 3pm
- It’s been a tough few days for Crystal Palace having conceded five goals in each of their trips to Manchester City (5-2) and Newcastle (5-0), two results which have dropped the Eagles down to twelfth in the Premier League, having previously looked like a side with European ambitions (top eight).
- Those two defeats come off the back of some strong rumours that Oliver Glasner could be the man to replace Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham Hotspur if there’s change in North London, the Austrian was full of praise regarding Newcastle’s intensity, hey could face a similar issue on Saturday.
- Palace will be happy to return to Selhurst Park and familiar surroundings, they’ve won their last four here in all competitions and have beaten Bournemouth in three of the last four meetings in South London.
——————————– - Bournemouth put an end to their eight game winless run on Monday evening with an important victory against fellow European contenders Fulham at the Vitality Stadium, Antoine Semenyo’s goal after 53 seconds being the difference.
- The Cherries will be hoping the Premier League gets another extra European spot, they currently occupy eighth ahead of both Fulham and Brighton but only on goal-difference, with all three sides on forty-eight points prior to this weekends action.
- None of the last eight meetings between these two sides have seen both teams score, with all eight also producing less than three goals. However, seven of Bournemouth’s last eight games have seen both teams on the scoresheet and with Palace’s recent leaky defence, that trend could change here.
Prediction: Both Teams To Score & Draw, Crystal Palace 2-2 Bournemouth.
Everton v Manchester City – Saturday, 3pm
- Everton travelled to Nottingham Forest on Saturday afternoon as underdogs but left the City Ground will all three points after a terrific last-minute counter attacking goal from a Nottingham Forest corner, remarkable.
- David Moyes’ side have climbed the table to thirteenth now after picking up their eighth win of the season, five of which have occurred since Moyes took over back in January.
- The Toffees are playing for pride now but with just three games left to play at Goodison Park, they’ll want to make each game as special as they can for their faithful supporters, a victory here would be just that given they’ve not beaten Manchester City on Merseyside since 2017 (4-0).
——————————– - Manchester City thought it was going to be another tough day at the office last Saturday when they found themselves 2-0 down at home to Crystal Palace with just twenty-one minutes on the clock, it took a Kevin De Bruyne inspired performance to turn the game on it’s head, coming out eventual 5-2 winners.
- For all the doom and gloom during this campaign for Pep Guardiola’s side, they still remain in the hunt for a UEFA Champions League spot with City currently occupying that final fifth European spot, albeit just one point from seventh.
- So there’s still so much to play for Manchester City and they should arrive at Goodison Park fairly confident, having won each of their last eight visits here, 50% of which finished 3-1.
Prediction: Manchester City To Win, Everton 1-3 Manchester City.
West Ham United v Southampton – Saturday, 3pm
- Graham Potter has struggled to have a real impact since taking over West Ham in January, winning just three of his thirteen games in charge so far, leaving the Hammers down in seventeenth.
- The Irons could count themselves a little unlucky following their defeat at Anfield on Sunday afternoon, having equalised with just four minutes left to play it looked like they’d take an unlikely point before conceding just three minutes later, which sums up their campaign.
- West Ham and Potter should fancy themselves to take all three points in this one though, up against already relegated Southampton, a side they’ve beaten in five of their last six meetings on home soil.
——————————– - With just six games left to play, Southampton are on their way to becoming the worst Premier League side ever, if the Saints fail to pick up any points before the end of the season, they’ll take over the unwanted record from Derby County, who finished their dismal campaign with eleven points in 2007/2008.
- A 3-0 defeat last weekend to Aston Villa meant it’s now just two wins from their thirty-two Premier League games so far, whilst they’ve conceded seventy-seven goals so far, conceding at least two goals in 66% of their league games, only Leicester City have a higher percentage (78%).
- Having picked up just five points on the road from a possible forty-eight, it’s hard to see Southampton getting anything from this one.
Prediction: Both Teams To Score & West Ham To Win, West Ham 3-1 Southampton.
Aston Villa v Newcastle United – Saturday, 5.30pm
- Aston Villa come into this huge fixture on Saturday night after an impressive victory over Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League, Villa came from two goals down to win their UCL quarter-final second leg 3-2, albeit losing the tie 5-4.
- Their UCL campaign might be over for this season but after four Premier League wins in a row, Unai Emery’s side have given themselves a real opportunity to qualify again via the league, they sit seventh prior to this game but just one point separates them from Man City in fifth.
- Aston Villa have been sensational on home soil this season, they’ve not lost at Villa Park in their last eighteen games here and have been beaten here just once in the league. The Villans have won four of their last five meetings here against Newcastle.
——————————– - Like Saturday’s opponents, Newcastle are another side in fine form, having beaten Manchester United 4-1 on Sunday, they went one better on Wednesday evening by beating Crystal Palace 5-0 at St James’ Park.
- With five league victories in a row, the Magpies have climbed the table and occupy third place, their victory on Wednesday also extended their gap to five points from Villa, meaning the pressure has eased ever so slightly, i’m sure Eddie Howe’s side would take a draw here.
- Newcastle have beaten Villa in the last three meetings between the two sides, including a 3-0 win in the reverse fixture on Boxing Day. However, the Magpies have won just one of their last eight visits to Villa Park.
Prediction: Both Teams To Score & Aston Villa To Win, Aston Villa 2-1 Newcastle United.
