William Hill ambassador Gavin Cromwell previews his runners for the first day of the 2025 Punchestown Festival.

Tuesday, Punchestown

We kick off the Punchestown Festival with three runners in the 2m3½f Handicap Hurdle (3.05pm). Bridie’s Beau was a course and distance winner here back in January and since then we’ve given him a little break to freshen him up. We’re happy with him, his work is good and I think he should run well.

Keith Donoghue takes the ride on Hartur d’Arc and I think he was a bit unlucky to bump into one the last day. That said, it was a really good run, he seems in good form and he can be competitive as well.

We also have Londonofficecallin who won here back in January after a decent break. I think he should go well fresh again here and we’ve trained him specifically to come back for this race. Daniel King takes the ride and he knows him really well and he’s in off a lovely weight, so hopefully he can run well.

Then in the Listed Hurdle (3.40pm) we run Serienmond. He only ran a week ago at Fairyhouse so we’re bringing him back quite quickly, but he ran really well and I don’t think he had a very hard race. He ran through the line really well and hopefully with a run in him he might not be as gassy as he was there. It’s a nice pot and he seems in good form so we’ll take our chance.

We finish off on Tuesday with a couple of nice horses in the Bumpers, the first of the two being If You Believe (5.25pm). He’s a very nice horse and I’m really looking forward to him for next season. He’s going to improve plenty for whatever he does here and we won’t see the best of him until he goes jumping. In my mind he’ll make a nice staying chaser one day.

We run Bud Fox in the second Bumper (6.35pm). He’s a fast horse and he goes really well at home so I’m expecting him to run well here. I’d imagine he’ll be one for the two-mile division when he goes jumping.
