@Footy_Tipster gives his best predictions ahead of this round of fixtures in the club world cup..
The action from the FIFA Club World Cup on Saturday will start in the early hours in the UK, when Bayern Munich take on Boca Juniors in an intriguing encounter at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami.
Later on Saturday, South African side Mamelodi Sundowns will be looking to defy the betting odds when they face Borussia Dortmund in Cincinnati. That’s before Inter Milan go head-to-head with Japanese side Urawa Red Diamonds at Lumen Field in Seattle.

Now, let’s take a closer look at some football betting angles for Saturday’s FIFA Club World Cup fixtures:
Bayern Munich v Boca Juniors – Saturday, 2am (UK Time).
- Bayern Munich created history in their opening game on Sunday having beaten Auckland City 10-0 which is the biggest margin of victory in the FIFA Club World Cup history.
- Vincent Kompany will be delighted with his sides performance and a victory in this one could secure their place in the last sixteen with a game to spare if results elsewhere go in their favour on Friday.
- Bayern Munich have now scored at least two goals in each of their last eight outings across all competitions, they’ll be looking to extend that record to nine games against this Boca defence.
——————————– - Boca Juniors played their part in one of the best games we’ve seen so far in this competition, a 2-2 draw against Benfica with both sides having a player sent off in a feisty encounter.
- However, Miguel Angel Russo will be disappointed with just a point having seen his side go 2-0 up after twenty-seven minutes, whilst conceding an equaliser with just six minutes left to play despite having an extra player at that time.
- This group could well come down to goal-difference to determine which side progresses through into the last sixteen and Boca will feel their biggest chance will be with a huge victory against Auckland City in their final game, this one might be a step too far but they should still be competitive.
Prediction: Both Teams To Score & Bayern Munich To Win, Bayern Munich 2-1 Boca Juniors.
Mamelodi Sundowns v Borussia Dortmund – Saturday, 5pm (UK Time).
- Surprisingly, Mamelodi Sundowns top Group F after the first round of fixtures following their 1-0 victory against Ulsan HD, claiming their first ever win in the Club World Cup.
- This is the first time that Mamelodi Sundowns will face European opposition and a victory here would put them on the cusp on the last sixteen, they’ve won seven of their last nine games across all competitions.
- Despite topping Group F, Sundowns will need to defy the betting odds if they are to get anything from this with the market having them a clear outsiders prior to kick off, i think they might struggle in this one.
——————————– - Given both Fluminense and Borussia Dortmund are the favourites to advance out of this group, a goalless draw between the two sides probably demonstrated why, with nothing to separate the two sides at this early stage.
- However, Borussia Dortmund cannot afford to slip up in this one as that would result in them having a mountain to climb if they are to progress into the last sixteen but the Prussians should find a win here.
- Niko Kovac’s side have scored seven goals in their last eight games, whilst nine of Dortmund’s last eleven games have produced at least four goals.
Prediction: Over 3.5 Goals, Mamelodi Sundowns 1-3 Borussia Dortmund.
Inter Milan v Urawa Red Diamonds – Saturday, 8pm (UK Time).
- Inter Milan started life under Cristian Chivu with a 1-1 stalemate against Mexican side Monterrey in the Club World Cup, a result which keeps Inter third in Group E prior to Saturday’s fixture.
- With table-toppers River Plate still to come in their final fixture, Inter will be looking to pick up their first victory of the campaign on Saturday and although a loss here wouldn’t see the end for the Italians, it’ll be a big ask to get themselves into the last sixteen.
- I think we’ll see an improved performance from Inter in this one on Saturday, with Cristian Chivu looking to put some structure back into his defence as they’ve kept just three clean sheets in their last seventeen games.
——————————– - Urawa Reds lost their first game of this campaign 3-1 against River Plate, meaning another defeat here would be the end of the road for the Japanese side.
- History against European sides is also against Urawa Reds in this one, having lost their previous two Club World Cup games against both AC Milan and Manchester City.
- Notwithstanding the fact that Inter are clear favourites in this one, we should see goals as six of Urawa’s last seven games in all competitions have seen both teams find the back of the net.
Prediction: Inter Milan To Win & Over 2.5 Goals, Inter Milan 3-1 Urawa Red Diamonds.
