Welsh Rugby Union Odds: Wales odds-on to win first game under new coach Tandy

William Hill have installed Wales the 10/11 favourites to beat Argentina in new coach Steve Tandy’s first game in charge on the 9th of November.
The match is the first of four Autumn Internationals where Wales will face Argentina, Japan, New Zealand, as well as current World Champions South Africa and the ex-Scotland defence coach is 50/1 to guide his side to four victories.

Next up is the 2026 Six Nations, where Wales are priced at 7/2 to finish above England, however, their odds of once again claiming the wooden spoon are shorter at 10/11.
With a relatively young squad Wales are likely to improve, and they are priced at 2/5 to progress from their World Cup group in 2027.

Spokesperson for William Hill, Lee Phelps, said: “Steve Tandy saw plenty of success as Scotland’s defence coach and also played a role with the British and Irish Lions in 2021, so he’s got the credentials to improve this Welsh side. We make it 10/11 that Wales start the Autumn Internationals with a statement win over Argentina in Tandy’s first game in charge.
“Wales recently ended their 18-game losing streak with a victory over Japan, who they’ll face again the autumn, but Tandy will have to work a few miracles if Wales are to win all four of their Autumn Internationals (50/1).
“They could struggle in next year’s Six Nations and are 10/11 to take the wooden spoon, but with star players like Jac Morgan and Tomos Williams, who have represented the Lions this summer, along with a new coach, improvement should be round the corner and they’re 7/2 to finish ahead of England.”
