Glorious Goodwood Tips & Day 5 Predictions (2025)

Glorious Goodwood - Goodwood Racecourse

The Stewards’ Cup takes centre stage on the final day of the 2025 Glorious Goodwood Festival. It is one of the most prestigious, valuable and well punted handicaps of the entire season.

Group action on the day comes in the shape of the Group 2 Lillie Langtry Stakes, plus the Group 3 Glorious Stakes.

1.20pm – 1m4f Glorious Stakes (Group 3)

Course and distance winner AL AASY (NAP) brings plenty of experience to the table in the Glorious Stakes.

The eight-year-old is ten-time winner for William Haggas, on behalf of the Shadwell Estate, and the famous blue and white colours just keep on performing when they are aboard this horse.

There is every reason to believe that Al Aasy will retain his Glorious title today.

1.55pm – 1m6f Summer Handicap

MASTER BUILDER could well be the answer to this Summer Handicap conundrum, with the four-year-old coming into the race on the back of a couple of top efforts.

Second to Asgard’s Captain at Epsom, then a commendable fourth here to French Master in May, David Menuisier’s charge arrives here fresh and ready to do himself justice.

2.30pm – 1m6f Lillie Langtry Stakes (Group 2)

Don’t drink, don’t smoke, what do you do? You follow GOODIE TWO SHOES in the Lillie Langtry Stakes bidding for her fourth win on the bounce.

Joseph O’Brien’s game mare is thriving on her racing at the moment and comes to Goodwood on the back of two Listed victories, and a win in the Group 3 Stanerra Stakes at Fairyhouse. What’s not to like about the six-year-old?

3.05pm – 6f Stewards’ Cup (Heritage Handicap)

I personally thought Richard Fahey’s STRIKE RED (E/W) was pretty unlucky in last Saturday’s “Dash” at York, and I will give the seven-year-old another go one week later.

Despite traffic issues down the home straight, Strike Red stayed on well and only finished 1¼ lengths adrift of the race winner, so there’s plenty to like about that run.

With so many runners, it’s worth having a backup plan, and another each-way betting play can be given to KORKER (E/W).

He was absolutely mullered when going for a gap in the final furlong of the Dash, when looking like a certainty to grab a place at the very least. He has to be followed in again.

3.45pm – 7f Handicap

John and Thady Gosden’s MUDBIR got his just rewards on the turf by landing a seven furlong contest at Sandown one month ago.

The Shadwell youngster looks like he will progress even further, and he is a confident pick in this twenty runner handicap.

4.20pm – 7f EBF Maiden Stakes

Aidan O’Brien’s Issac Newton will be all the rage here, but I shall be taking him on with the Gosden-trained CORINTH.

The Dubawi-colt was rather green at Sandown on debut, but will have learned plenty and I suspect will be a more settled horse today. He’s an each-way poke at odds of around 7/1 in our horse racing betting.

4.55pm – 1m1f Handicap

Richard Hannon and Ryan Moore team up with BOYFRIEND in the Glorious Goodwood Festival closer, and the four-year-old can bring them some welcome success.

A close fourth to Dutch Decoy at Newmarket, that form is strong and Boyfriend can kick on again.
