Championship Relegation Odds & Predictions (2025/26)

ANOTHER gruelling EFL Championship campaign kicks off once again this weekend embracing games on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

We’ve already turned the spotlight on clubs who are likely to be hunting for promotion. But what about the other end of the table? The almighty skirmish to avoid those three dreaded relegation slots always attracts plenty of football betting.

To Be Relegated From EFL Championship Odds:

Punters can bet on which Championship teams will be relegated at William Hill and here is the current state of the market:

Sheffield Wednesday – 1/3
Oxford United – 9/4
Hull City – 3/1
Charlton Athletic – 10/3
Preston North End – 7/2
Bar – 4/1

Last season it was Luton Town, Plymouth Argyle and Cardiff City who dramatically fell through the trap door into League One. Another very fierce battle at the bottom is anticipated in 2025/26.

Sheffield Wednesday

Final position 2024/25 – 12th in the EFL Championship
Manager/coach – Henrik Pedersen
Age – 47
Date appointed – 31st July 2025
Stand out summer signing – Sheffield Wednesday have been under transfer restrictions and a player registration embargo due to off the field problems.
Quote – Pedersen said: “I am incredibly proud to be manager of Sheffield Wednesday. It is a wonderful football club with truly special supporters. Ever since arriving here with my family, the city has felt like our home straight away. Of course it is now my position to get the club back to where we should be. It is not going to be easy because we are maybe riding in rough waters.”

Oxford United

Manager/coach – Gary Rowett

Stand out summer signing – Brian De Keersmaecker, midfielder from Heracles Almelo for £1.5 million on 1st July
Quote – Rowett said: “Building up to the new season, a lot of work has bene done on improving the squad by Ed Waldron our head of football operations and his team. It is going to be a very competitive division. Many clubs are spending a lot of money. We don’t want to stand still which means we must try to keep improving. I am looking to get the right balance here in all areas of the pitch.”

Portsmouth

Quote – Mousinho said: “We are in a good spot overall because I’ve been able to go out and spend a significant amount of money on new players during the summer. That is certainly completely different from where we have been as a football club throughout the past couple of seasons. So I am really pleased with the situation and we are looking to push on this year.”

Final position 2024/25 – 4th then 1-0 winners against Leyton Orient in the League One Play-Off Final at Wembley Stadium on Sunday 25th May

Stand out summer signing – Charlie Kelman, striker from Queens Park Rangers for £3.5 million on 27th July
Quote – Jones said: “We won’t be the finished article when the first Championship fixture comes around this week. But we definitely need to be ready for it. I am fully confident we will get used to the higher level of football very quickly and turn into the team that we want to be.”
