PFA Player of the Year Odds 2025/26: Florian Wirtz Backed For Award

Liverpool’s marquee summer signing Florian Wirtz has attracted almost a quarter of all bets placed on William Hill’s PFA Player of the Year market.

Priced at 7/1 second-favourite, Wirtz has drawn more support than any other player, including Chelsea ace Cole Palmer (10%), as well as Reds teammate Mohamed Salah (7%), who won the award last season.

Despite Wirtz’s surge in popularity, Arsenal attacker Bukayo Saka remains the favourite at 13/2, while other leading contenders include Palmer (8/1), Salah (9/1) and Manchester City frontmen Phil Foden (8/1) and Erling Haaland (9/1).

It would be some achievement if Wirtz was to win the award in his first season in England’s top flight. The likes of Saka, Palmer and Salah are mainstays in the Premier League but it’ll be fascinating to see how the German star takes to the division.

“At 7/1, he’s proving more popular than established Premier League stars like Cole Palmer (8/1), Phil Foden (8/1), Mohamed Salah (9/1), and Erling Haaland (9/1).

“While Bukayo Saka remains the 13/2 favourite, Wirtz’s early support suggests that punters believe the German could be this season’s breakout star, and he has attracted significantly more bets that the next two best supported players, Palmer (10%) and Salah (7%).”
