For the past five seasons, the AFC East has run through Buffalo in the regular season. But for the Bills, playoff wins and a Super Bowl are the true measure of success. The Bills have lost to the Chiefs four times in the last five playoffs, and to the Bengals in 2022.

The Bills are again the AFC East favourite. The Patriots are predicted to take a step forward and finish second in the division. They were AFC champs from 2009-2019 and may test the Bills if all goes right.

AFC East Odds 2025:

  • Buffalo Bills – 1/3
  • New England Patriots – 5/1
  • Miami Dolphins – 7/1
  • New York Jets – 18/1

The Dolphins are predicted to finish third, and the oddsmakers like the Jets to finish last. While there is certainly potential for both the Dolphins and Jets to have successful seasons, the most likely outcome for each is a marginally competitive team.

Here are some points to consider when making your bets on which team will win the division.

Buffalo Bills (1/3)

The Buffalo Bills return largely the same team on offense. Josh Allen is the obvious x-factor in Buffalo. Ultimately, the success of the Buffalo Bills will come down to how far Allen can lead them. The reigning MVP has been consistently good, with five consecutive AFC regular season titles.

Despite lacking a clear #1 WR they have a deep and underrated receiving group. At the RB position James Cook looks poised for a big season after tying the league lead in rushing TD’s last season with 16.

The Bills’ defense has seen significant personnel changes, especially on the defensive line. They will have to be better at controlling the line of scrimmage. It’s important to remember the Bills are elite at taking away the football. They forced 32 turnovers last season, third most in the NFL.

New England Patriots (5/1)

The New England Patriots look to build back their team to its former glory. Mike Vrabel takes over as head coach. The former Patriots star player is a well-regarded coach, bringing credibility to a coaching staff still searching for a new identity since Bill Belichick’s departure two seasons ago.

Strength of schedule counts, and the Patriots have the third-easiest with their opponents winning at just a .429 clip in 2024.

If the Patriots do have success this year it will likely come due to continued improvement from second-year QB Drake Maye.

Miami Dolphins (7/1)

The Miami Dolphins have made changes. Out are CB Jalen Ramsey and TE Jonnu Smith. In are Safety Micah Fitzpatrick and TE Darren Waller.

The current makeup of the team points to a high-risk, high-reward roster composition. Can QB Tua Tagovailoa stay healthy? Can Safety Micah Fitzpatrick return to his all-pro form? And can the Dolphins find a replacement at CB for Jalen Ramsey, either internally or by trade?

Add in the uncertain future of star WR Tyreek Hill and it could be a boom or bust season in Miami.

New York Jets (18/1)

The Jets will try to rebound from their disastrous season. They have a new Head Coach in Aaron Glenn, previously Defensive Coordinator for the Detroit Lions. Glenn takes over a Jets team that has a nine-year losing streak and hasn’t made the playoffs since 2010.

Last year, QB Aaron Rodgers was lost just four snaps into his Jets debut with a season-ending Achilles. This injury proved to be an omen for their season.

This year, it will be four-year vet Justin Fields at QB, who has never played a full season. At a minimum, the Jets need Fields to be a stabilizer for them. In a perfect scenario Fields finally puts it all together, similar to last year’s breakout QB, Sam Darnold.

Elsewhere, the Jets have a young and talented team. If you are looking for a long shot to surprise the NFL the Jets are an option.
