Premier League top scorer predictions 2025/26
The Premier League Golden Boot race is set to be another great spectacle this year, with a host of top attackers all vying for the award.
Current holder Mohamed Salah will be hoping to keep his crown, while stars from other top sides will have their sights set on finishing atop the scoring charts.
Some of Europe’s elite forwards will be competing in the league this season and here we take a look at the contenders for the Golden Boot.

Erling Haaland 10/11
It is no surprise to see the 2023/24 Golden Boot winner at the head of the betting for this season’s award. The Norwegian goal machine netted 36 times in just 35 games in his debut season, smashing numerous records along the way.
He followed that up with a 27-goal campaign, defending his title as the league’s top scorer. He has since had his status as the league’s leading talisman taken by Mohamed Salah, but with two goals on the opening day the Manchester City number nine is already odds-on to reclaim the title.
Mohamed Salah 11/2
Mohamed Salah won his third Golden Boot last season and is 11/2 to make it four. He, like Haaland, made his mark at Liverpool in his first season by landing the top scorer accolade, netting 32 times in 36 games in the 2017/18 campaign.
Salah shared the award with teammate Sadio Mané and former Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in 2018/19, with all three scoring 22 league goals. 29 was enough to bag him the Golden Boot last season and with a goal on the opening day this year, he could be good value at 11/2 with 1/4 of the odds on four places in the each way market.
Viktor Gyökeres 9/1
Viktor Gyökeres will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of Haaland and Salah by winning the Golden Boot in his first season at his new club. The Swedish striker joined Arsenal in the summer for £55 million, with the fee potentially rising to £63.5 million.
He heads to North London with Gunners fans’ hopes on his shoulders after he arrived off the back of a 39-goal season in the Liga Portugal with Sporting. That number by itself doesn’t tell the full story, though. 17 of his 39 goals (43.6%) came in seven matches against teams who finished in the bottom four, while just two of them came in eight matches against teams who finished between second and fifth.
Arsenal fans will be hoping he can up his game against the teams towards the top of the table and he’ll need to adapt quickly, as the teams towards the bottom of the Premier League will be more formidable than their Portuguese counterparts. He currently sits third in the market, largely based on reputation, and will need to show significant improvement from his opening day performance against Manchester United if he is to challenge for the Golden Boot.
Alexander Isak 10/1
The second Swede on the list is last season’s runner-up Alexander Isak, who finished the 2024/25 campaign with 23 goals. His strikes helped Newcastle to a fifth-place finish and in the process he became seen as one of the league’s, and Europe’s, top strikers.
The 10/1 about him to go one better this year is bigger than many would have expected due to speculation about his future at Newcastle and his pursuit of a move to Liverpool, causing him to miss the first game of the season.
If Isak gets a move sooner rather than later he could be a good bet to hit the ground running and get back among the goals, provided he stays in the Premier League.
The rest
With four places available each way, it is worth looking away from the leading contenders for some value in the market. The past seven seasons have seen Chris Wood, Bryan Mbeumo, Ivan Toney and Danny Ings all finish in the top four scorers as outsiders at the start of the campaign.
Wood netted twice on the opening day for Nottingham Forest but remains 25/1 for the Golden Boot this season and could be a good each-way play given he netted 20 last season to finish fourth.
Liverpool’s £79 million man Hugo Ekitike is an interesting option at 12/1. He is expected to lift some of the scoring burden from Mohamed Salah and has made a fast start, finding the back of the net against Bournemouth in Gameweek One.
Chelsea also splashed the cash on a new centre-forward in the shape of João Pedro, who joined the Blues from Brighton for £60 million in the summer. He hit the ground running in pre-season with four goals in four games, including one in the Club World Cup final against Paris Saint-Germain. The Brazilian forward could be one to watch in the each way betting at 16/1 once he gets off the mark in the league for his new club.
