League Two
League 2 Predictions This Weekend – Saturday 13th September 2025
FIXTURES in our EFL League Two involve some fascinating scenarios again this weekend.
Analysing the early table positions, just two clubs remain unbeaten. So the League 2 betting activity is favouring those teams. Alternatively a single side is lacking victory – rock bottom Accrington Stanley.
Here are the upcoming pairings I am anticipating most alongside considered score predictions to guide your football betting…
Saturday 13th September 2025
Gillingham v Notts County
- Kick-off: 3pm
- Rankings: 1st versus 10th
Gillingham preview – Leading the division on goal difference. The Gills stay unconquered in 16 EFL fixtures since Gareth Ainsworth took charge on 25th March. They’ve won all three home League games this season.
Notts County preview – Unbeaten during the past four EFL engagements returning three wins. A solitary away victory though across five matches in all competitions. Notts striker Matthew Dennis has delivered six goals in his last five appearances making him League Two’s foremost scorer.
Score prediction: Gills keep it going 2-1.
Swindon Town v Harrogate Town
- Kick-off: 3pm
- Rankings: 2nd versus 15th
Swindon Town preview – Second on goal difference due to five wins from seven EFL affairs. Also divisional highest scorers on 14 goals. Their boss Ian Holloway is an old friend of mine dating back almost 35 years so it is nice to see him doing well. A true football character!
Don’t forget Swindon were drifting towards the League Two relegation places when ‘Ollie’ was first appointed on 25th October 2024. He subsequently penned a new contract in March until the end of the 2027/28 campaign.
Harrogate Town preview – Three straight League 2 losses leave the Sulphurites seeking room for improvement.
Score prediction: Ollie’s delight 4-2.
Fleetwood Town v Walsall
- Kick-off: 3pm
- Rankings: 11th versus 3rd
Fleetwood Town preview – One victory in five ongoing League 2 matches. I love it when Fleetwood play quirky Captain Pugwash music every time they score in home games.
Walsall preview – Level with the top two on points but possessing inferior goal difference. Current form shows four wins in League and Cup where their defence was breached merely once. It always seems appropriate to me that Mat Sadler is head coach of the Saddlers!
Score prediction: A day off for Captain Pugwash 0-0.
Grimsby Town v Cambridge United
- Kick-off: 3pm
- Rankings: 4th versus 12th
Grimsby Town preview – A point below the coveted automatic promotions places having triumphed 3-2 at pre-season promotion favourites MK Dons last Saturday. The Mariners are still basking in the glory of their famous penalty shoot-out League Cup win over Manchester United at Blundell Park in August of course.
Cambridge United preview – Two defeats in three EFL outings. However only three points shy of the Play-Off zone.
Score prediction: High octane stuff 3-3.
Oldham Athletic v Bromley
- Kick-off: 3pm
- Rankings: 17th versus 5th
Oldham Athletic preview – A fixture featuring the previous two National League Play-Off Final winners – Bromley in 2023/24 and Oldham Athletic in 2024/25. The Latics secured a first victory in all competitions this campaign courtesy of the 1-0 scoreline at Cambridge United last Saturday.
Bromley preview – Undefeated and thoroughly consistent…draw, win, draw, win, draw, win, draw in seven League encounters. Great progress within their second year as an EFL club.
Score prediction: Tight and tense 1-1.
Crewe Alexandra v Barnet
- Kick-off: 3pm
- Rankings: 6th versus 18th
Crewe Alexandra preview – Presently nursing three League games bereft of victory. Even so, Crewe’s 7-1 home Football League Trophy battering of Chesterfield on 2nd September is one of 2025/26 season’s stand out results.
Barnet preview – On a three match winless run in all competitions. Yet I am extremely mindful the Bees’ two League triumphs after returning to EFL membership both came on the road – at Swindon Town and Cheltenham Town.
Score prediction: Bees buzzing 1-0.
