Despite walking out of a recent pre-series press conference, Tom Skinner’s odds have shortened to win the upcoming series of Strictly Come Dancing, according to William Hill.

The former Apprentice star saw his outright odds cut from 18/1 into 16/1 after the incident, whilst his odds to be first eliminated from the series drifted from 8/1 to 9/1, with Ross King the market leader at 5/2.

Born and raised in East London, Skinner is known for his larger-than-life personality, quick wit and down-to-earth approach which he’s hoping will stand him good stead in the ballroom.

He has become a popular media figure, appearing on shows like Celebrity MasterChef and Bargain Hunt. However, he’s recently come under scrutiny due to walking out of Strictly’s first press conference, however, claims it was a misunderstanding and has since apologised.

Lewis Cope remains the outright leader to win the Glitterball trophy at 11/4, with Dani Dyer (7/2) and Ellie Goldstein (5/1) making up the top three.

Spokesperson for William Hill, Lee Phelps, said: “Thomas Skinner left a few journalists hanging when he exited a recent press conference early, but support in the betting for the former Apprentice star hasn’t slowed down.

“We’ve clipped Skinner’s odds into 16/1 from 18s to win the Glitterball trophy, whilst pushing him out in the first eliminated market, for which he is now 9/1 from 8/1.

“Lewis Cope (11/4) is still supported as market leader to win the series, ahead of Dani Dyer (7/2) and Ellie Goldstein (5/1), whilst Ross King seems to already be in hot water; he’s the 5/2 favourite to be the first contestant eliminated.”

The market for this year’s Strictly Come Dancing is beginning to take shape, with punters showing clear preferences in the early trading. Lewis Cope has seen the strongest early backing, edging ahead of Dani Dyer and Ellie Goldstein.

Both Dyer and Goldstein have attracted steady support, suggesting a competitive top end to the outright betting. Further down, reality TV star Vicky Pattison (8/1) and YouTuber George Clarke (8/1) are holding firm in the mid-market, while Karen Carney (12/1) and Balvinder Sopal (14/1) remain outsiders.

In the “First Eliminated” market, Ross King heads the field with Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink also proving popular. Chris Robshaw sits in the danger zone in third, while Stefan Dennis, La Voix and Skinner seem to have a few weeks in them to turn the ship around.
