Luke Donald has emerged as William Hill’s favourite to captain Team Europe at the 2027 Ryder Cup, after securing back-to-back Ryder Cup victories on Sunday in New York, in what was widely regarded as one of the top sporting events of the year. Donald’s odds to lead the European side at Adare Manor have been dramatically shortened from 10/3 to 4/6.

During the trophy presentation, when asked directly about the possibility of captaining Europe in 2027, Donald offered a measured response, simply stating: “We’ll see,” leaving the door open but giving little away about his intentions.

Should Donald decide not to take on the role, Ryder Cup legend Justin Rose is next in line at 4/1 to assume the captaincy, offering a credible alternative with a wealth of experience in the event.

Meanwhile, vice captains and brothers Francesco and Edoardo Molinari are both priced at 6/1, while Nicolas Colsaerts rounds out the single-figure odds at 9/1, keeping the competition for the European captaincy tightly contested.

Across the Atlantic, Keegan Bradley is currently the 2/1 favourite to continue as captain of the United States team in 2027, with fellow Americans Brandt Snedeker and Webb Simpson trailing him at 4/1.

As anticipation begins to build for the next Ryder Cup at Adare Manor, attention will not only be on the players but also on who will take the helm, shaping the strategies and spirit of both sides in one of golf’s most prestigious team events.

Spokesperson for William Hill, Lee Phelps, said: “Chants of ‘two more years’ were ringing round Bethpage Black yesterday afternoon and we think European fans could get their wish, as we make Luke Donald odds-on to captain Team Europe at the 2027 Ryder Cup.

“Donald is 4/6 with us to try for the hat-trick at Adare Manor, but he has hinted that he may not want to take up the captaincy again.

“In that instance, we make Justin Rose his likeliest successor at 4/1 after the Englishman put on another brilliant display at his seventh Ryder Cup.

“From within Donald’s team of vice captains, Francesco Molinari is a 6/1-shot, alongside brother Edoardo who was part of the staff for the 2023 victory in Rome.

“Keegan Bradley will no doubt be after his revenge having suffered a devastating loss on home soil and he’s the 2/1 favourite to lead the US in 2027.”
