England face Bangladesh in Guwahati on Tuesday in the first round of the ICC Women’s World Cup.

Both teams won their opening matches in the tournament, with England hammering South Africa by 10 wickets on the back of some sensational spin bowling, and Bangladesh delivering an emphatic seven-wicket victory over Pakistan.

The cricket betting markets price England as overwhelming favourites for this match at 1/50. The one and only previous meeting between the sides was in the 2021/22 when England ran out victors by 100 runs.

England Women vs Bangladesh Women Odds:

Punters can bet on England Women v Bangladesh Women in the 2025 ICC Women’s World Cup at William Hill and here is the current state of the market:

  • England Women – 1/50
  • Bangladesh Women – 12/1

While Bangladesh don’t have much pedigree in the women’s game, they notably beat Sri Lanka in a warm-up match for this tournament and pushed the West Indies all the way in a qualifier.

This is only the Tigresses’ second 50-over World Cup appearance. The win over Pakistan a few days ago was their fifth World Cup win in either format across 33 matches.

England’s Spin Attack

England banked on big-turning pitches when picking their squad for this tournament. The decision reaped rewards in the opening match, with South Africa skittled for 69.

Linsey Smith put England in the ascendancy early on, finishing with figures of three for seven. She dismissed three of the top four, including the South African captain and star batter Laura Wolvaardt.

Sophie Ecclestone and Charlie Dean were almost as effective, combining for four wickets. Lauren Bell’s place is in the side is obviously secure, but England will be rolling with three frontline spinners again against this Bangladeshi team.

England Women vs Bangladesh Women Best Bet

  • Amy Jones Over 32 Runs & Linsey Smith Over 1 Wicket (9/5)

Amy Jones was in imperious form in the opener, crushing 40 off 50 balls. Jones wasn’t at her best in The Hundred and posted a number of disappointing scores towards the end of the tournament, but she scored 39 in a warm-up match against India and looked at home on the Guwahatian surface.

Smith’s inclusion speaks for itself. Chances are going to be created if Bangladesh go after her in the powerplay. Even if she’s wicketless in the early going, a turning pitch means there will be potential for scalps in her second spell.
