Shanghai Masters Tips: Zizou Bergs vs Novak Djokovic Prediction (2025)

Shanghai Masters 2025

Tennis legend Novak Djokovic will take on Zizou Bergs in the Shanghai Masters quarter-finals, with the Serbian looking to add to his record tally of four titles at the tournament.

The two players meet for the very first time and sports betting punters won’t be shocked to see Djokovic installed as clear favourite ahead of the quarter-final, despite a scare in his last-16 victory over Jaume Munar.

With no Carlos Alcaraz or Jannik Sinner, this is the ideal opportunity for Djokovic to add another ATP Masters 1000 title to his name. It’ll be interesting to see if Bergs can throw a spanner in the works…

The Serbian, winner of a record 24 Grand Slam titles, had to dig deep to overcome a leg injury and heat exhaustion to prevail. Djokovic was on the back foot early on as he suffered a setback in the first set but eventually ran out a 6-3 5-7 6-2 winner.

All being well, he will face Bergs in the next round and many will be expecting Djokovic to advance to the semi-finals. However, it might not be entirely straightforward despite the current betting suggesting a simple state of affairs.

Novak Djokovic v Zizou Bergs Odds:

Punters can bet on Zizou Bergs vs Novak Djokovic in the Shanghai Masters quarter-final at William Hill and here is the current state of the market:

  • Zizou Bergs – 13/5
  • Novak Djokovic – 2/7

While Djokovic is in the twilight years of his career, Bergs is on the up. Now ranked a career high 44th in the world, the Belgian number one has dropped just two sets so far this tournament and he has coped relatively well with the intense heat.

Conditions are tough and they may take their toll on Djokovic, who also suffered vomiting in Sunday’s clash. While the Serbian player is a class above on paper, the playing field is levelled somewhat due to the conditions.

The betting has Djokovic as clear favourite but I wouldn’t be writing Bergs off completely. This one could end up going down to the wire and that is why both players to win a set is my selection at 13/10.
