FA Cup Fourth Round Qualifying Predictions & Betting Tips (2025)

The fourth round of men’s FA Cup qualifying is taking place across the weekend of October 11, with teams competing for a place in the first round proper of the world’s oldest club competition.

These teams aren’t going to be among the sports betting favourites to lift the trophy next spring, but reaching the first round itself is a notable achievement.

The teams involved range from well-known clubs like Halifax Town, Macclesfield, and Southend United to outfits with less pedigree like the Runcorn Linnets, King’s Lynn Town, and Maldon & Tiptree.

All 24 National League teams have entered the qualifying process at the fourth round. Whitstable Town, who ply their trade in Level 9, are the lowest-ranked team remaining in the FA Cup, after knocking out Chichester City and Hungerford in the last two rounds.

Where to Watch

Four teams will receive a live broadcast fee for their matches being shown on the BBC and TNT Sports.

Saturday’s clash between Farnham Town and Sutton United will be shown on BBC iPlayer, the red button, and the BBC website from 12:30pm.

Forest Green Rovers’ trip to Worthing will be on TNT Sports 1 from 7:30pm on Monday.

Upsets Likely

Upsets are common in FA Cup qualifying, even with professional clubs from the National League competing at this stage of the competition.

Hednesford Town knocked out Gateshead United at this stage last year – Gateshead were three leagues above the Staffordshire outfit.

There was also a two-league upset with Boston United suffering a 4-0 defeat to Northern Premier League side Gainsborough Trinity.

On the road against Aveley, and coming off a home defeat to Boston, Gateshead are a candidate to be on the wrong side of some FA Cup magic again. Down in 22nd in the National League, Sutton United are winless in their last eight matches and face a tricky away day at Farnham.

With a couple of upsets to their name already, Whitstable are dreaming of a historic win over Wealdstone. It’s a longshot, but it’s worth noting Wealdstone have only reached the first round proper once since 2015/16.
