Minnesota Vikings at Los Angeles Chargers Prediction – Thursday Night Football Tips

NFL Thursday Night Football

The Minnesota Vikings take on the Los Angeles Chargers on Thursday Night Football, with NFL fans anticipating another potential upset in the opening game of the week.

The San Francisco 49ers, New York Giants and Cincinnati Bengals were all underdogs on the money line in NFL betting odds but all three prevailed so you could be forgiven for thinking that the Vikings are overpriced to win at SoFi Stadium.

This marks the first time that the Vikings and the Chargers have clashed since early in the 2023 NFL season and all signs point towards a close contest, where touchdowns may be at a premium.

Jim Harbaugh has a wealth of experience while the tactically astute Kevin O’Connell is viewed as one of the game’s brightest talents and we could be set for a ‘chess match’ between the two coaches.

Minnesota Vikings at Los Angeles Chargers Odds:

Punters can bet on Los Angeles Chargers vs Minnesota Vikings at William Hill and here is the current state of the market ahead of Thursday Night Football:

  • Los Angeles Chargers – 8/13
  • Minnesota Vikings – 13/10

The Chargers have been plagued by injury woes this campaign and that swings the game in favour of Minnesota in my opinion, though the hosts remain narrow favourites in sports betting markets for the contest.

They were humiliated by the Indianapolis Colts last week, with the AFC West side second best in almost every department – and there was an almost desperate need to try and rely on quarterback Justin Herbert in the passing game.

Minnesota’s secondary are capable of stopping Herbert and co, and that is why I’m expecting the Vikings to try and run the football. Clock management is crucial for any visiting team in the NFL but even more so when it comes to keeping a talented QB off the field.

It won’t be entirely straightforward by any means but my money would be on Minnesota to leave SoFi Stadium with a road win. It might be one for the purists but it should be a fascinating contest and a Bet Builder could be the way to go on Thursday night.
