Doncaster Tips – William Hill Futurity Trophy Stakes Day (2025)

The William Hill Futurity Trophy Stakes is one of the standout races of the British flat racing season, promising thrilling action and unforgettable moments.

Held at Doncaster Racecourse, this prestigious Group One race attracts the finest two-year-old thoroughbreds from across Britain and Ireland – all looking to prove their potential as future champions.

1.30pm – 5f Handicap (Class 2) (3yo+ 0-105)

I was at Pontefract earlier in the week when SOPHIA’S STARLIGHT won the fillies’ handicap there for the second year in a row, and she looked a very fit picture of health.

Already an eight-time winner, I’m confident she can come out just five days later and still scorch down the Doncaster home straight.

2.00pm – 1m William Hill Futurity Trophy Stakes (Group 1)

HAWK MOUNTAIN (NAP) was last seen impressing in the Beresford Stakes, which has been a good barometer to this race down the seasons.

The Wootton Bassett colt out of the dual Group One winner Hydrangea, is impeccably bred and will be a horse to follow next season – after landing this trophy of course!

2.40pm – 6f (William Hill Prospect Stakes (Listed Race)

It’s not the first time I’ve suggested LAM YAI in this tipping column, and she can go  one better than the heartbreaking defeat last time.

Beaten a neck in the Firth Of Clyde (Group 3) at Ayr, she will be much better equipped in this Listed affair today.  Shane Gray takes the ride for the in-form Karl Burke yard.

3.15pm- 7f Nursery Handicap (Class 3)

Gelded on October 1st, BROTHERHOOD OF MAN can give his HM The King a royal winner on Saturday afternoon at Doncaster.

His Vatican prayers will certainly be answered should the youngster make a quick transition to handicapping, which is highly probable.

I dare say Cieren Fallon will not be wanting to make any mistakes either, or it’ll be “off with his head” calls from both the King and the trainer.

4.25pm – 1m2f William Hill Best Odds Guaranteed Handicap (Class 2)

Billy Loughnane has been clocking up winners galore this week, and he is a more than able deputy for the Shadwell-owned EL BURHAN in this contest.

This “handicapper” could probably hold his own at a higher level, so I am keen to make him the pick.

5.00pm – 7f Handicap (Div I) (Class 4)

ABDUCTION has winning form on all surfaces, and he is a firm each-way pick in this wide open handicap.

Jim Goldie’s seven-year-old has previously visited the winner’s circle nine times in his career, and jockey Shay Farmer has been selected specifically for his 7lb claim.

An all-weather outing the other night at Newcastle won’t have done his fitness any harm either.

5.30pm – 7f Handicap (Div II) (Class 4)

Course and distance winner STANAGE is a favourite of Joanna Mason, and she can get another tune out of him in the lucky last.

Drawn in stall five, the four-year-old has been kept in good nick on the all-weather, and will enjoy this return to the turf.
